About Château de Vallagon
In an idyllic valley, surrounded by all the famous Loire castles in the lovely french Loir-et-Cher region, you will find the romantic Château de Vallagon.
Situated in the middle of France, 200 km south of Paris.
In 2005 the business partners Jan van den Berg, Marcel Coenen and the brothers Clement and Frans Kieftenbeld bought the castle and the properties, which were neglected for several years.
Today, Château de Vallagon is a three stars hotel with a restaurant, where all clients can enjoy the authentic French kitchen.
The 12 rooms and suites are spacious and comfortable and the environment is breathtaking. The castle is surrounded by a park with among others an orchard with fruit- and nut trees and a 160 year old greenhouse, in which vegetables and herbs for the castle’'s kitchen are grown. You can also find a swimming pool, a terrace, playground, wine caves and – on very short
distance of the castle – a small mobile home park
on the edge of the vineyards.

Château de Vallagon and his history
The château, built in the XIXth century by the Rance family has a rich history as a wine château.
On the façade we find the year of final construction 1851.

Our rooms and suites are all individually decorated. Tower rooms with bath, corner rooms with old lockers, family suites with secret alcoves and antique decorations.

Close to the castle, in the fields, with a breathtaking view on the valley, our mobile homes are located.
Suitable for 6 to 8 persons, these bungalows are most suitable for family holidays.
As a guest of our mobile home park, you can profit from all accommodation the castle offers: the restaurant with his fine french cuisine, the park and forest, the terrace, the play grounds and the swimming pool.
At a distance of 2 kilometers, Montrichard offers a beach
along the river Cher with rental of pedaloes. Besides, there are an indoor pool and tennis courts.
Should you look for space, quietness and nature, a mobile home at Château de Vallagon is an ideal accommodation.

For a unique holiday
In a breathtaking valley in the Loire area, just a few yards away from the crystal clear river Cher, lies Château de Vallagon. Perfectly situated for hikers and bikers (maps and material available), golf players, or those who want to explore the lovely surroundings by horse.
But also perfect for families with young children; we have family rooms available. The presence of several family parks and a river beach on short distance, together with the recreation possibilities of the castle itself, guarantees a wonderful holiday.
Hidden between vineyards and forests, the château invites you to enjoy the French regional cuisine, whereas the wine card represents the rich variety of the Loire wines.
The small villages, almost as if they are sleeping, all have their weekly markets, selling their regional products.
Far from sleeping are the towns like Tours and Blois, on short distance of the castle, with their rich culture, many restaurants and lovely shops.
The castle is surrounded by the famous ones like Chambord, Cheverny and Chenonceau.
So many things you can do.... But if you do nothing you can almost touch the silence....

The beautiful Touraine countryside and especially the Loir-et-Cher region, produces plenty of gastronomic treasures.The rivers, brooks and thousands of small lakes in the Sologne area offers a great variety such as pike and perch, but also duck, goose and other waterfowls, of which traditional and modern plates can be found on the restaurant’s menu. The sandy grounds produce juicy strawberries and asparagus.
In the kitchen garden and the old greenhouse we grow our own herbs and vegetables organically. The orchard supplies us with nuts and fruit, whereas meat and goat cheese are purchased on local farms. Thanks to the “cave de la Roche”, at 500 meters distance from the castle, each day we have a wide variety of mushrooms. With all these products the delicious local plates are prepared with dedication and respect for the natural flavours.

Route description
Dear guests,
In order to find our castle we advise you as follows
(starting from Paris):
Take the highway A10, direction Bordeaux, all the way to Orléans, then follow direction Blois
(toll road Paris-Blois, € 14,50)
Leave the A10 at Blois, turn 17, take the first roundabout direction Blois.
At the second roundabout, take the third turn direction Chambord/Vierzon, crossing the bridge over the river Loire.
Directly after the bridge take the first turn to the right and follow direction Montrichard.
Follow this road for about 30 kilometers.
After Pontlevoy, before entering Montrichard, take the D62 to the left, direction Bourré.
Take the first turn to the right, direction D176, the Route de Vallagon.
You will see our castle after about 900 meters, to the left.
For a beautiful view at the castle drive along the castle and enter the gate to your left after about 200 meters.
